OUR PRINTS

We print on colour-managed ink-jet printers – often called Giclée – in light-fast inks which are guaranteed for a lifetime. The paper we use comes from sustainable, managed forests and is acid-free.

The sizes given for Print Only refer to the image area; there is always an extra area of plain paper all round to allow for mounting. Unframed prints are sent rolled in cardboard postal tubes.

FISHCASE prints are bordered by the image of a black and gold 'frame'.

 

OUR FRAMES

Our frames are hand-made to order in the UK from wood which comes from sustainable forests here. We use glass up to a certain frame size (unless otherwise arranged) and acrylic for safety on larger frames.

For each Lifechart montage we choose the frame we consider suits it best and this is the one shown on the product page. The frame sizes stated are subject to slight variation since they are hand-made to order and refer to the inside dimensions of the frame back, i.e. the recess into which the mount is placed. The mount is off-white.

A framed print includes a glass (or acrylic), bevelled mount (except Fishcase, which has none), hardboard back and cord and eyelets. For transport, plastic corner protectors, shrink-wrap plastic and cardboard give maximum protection.

Fishcase frames are hand-painted black and hand-finished in gold to resemble a traditional technique. The Deep-framed option has an external frame depth of 70mm and the print is set back 40mm behind the acrylic 'glass' to further the three-dimensional effect.

 

OUR CANVASSES

We print in the same light-fast inks onto cotton canvas and stretch over sustainable softwood frames approx. 40mm in depth. A hardboard back is added for strength and stability. For transport, shrink-wrap plastic and cardboard give maximum protection.

The canvas can be cleaned periodically by dusting with a dry cloth.

Fishcase canvases are bordered by the image of a black and gold 'frame' which continues around the sides.

 

OUR GIFT CARDS

Lifechart cards are 159mm square and blank inside, unless otherwise stated. They offer quite a bit more than an ordinary card since they carry a 350-word history on their back covers.

The 350gsm board we use is from sustainable forests which are Forest Stewardship Council certified. They contain 15% recycled pulp and are also chlorine-free.

The envelopes are also from sustainable sources and the cello bags biodegradable.
